Got my Ipod to work with 07 RTL HU on CD/AUX for $39

I now have my IPOD plugged into the HU on mu 07 RTL/no NAV and its is working like a charm.

I found an Axxess Ipod Aux input device at Circuit City for 39 bucks (model AIP-HD03-ID) Figured I would giver it a shot and see what happens.

It does work! Control is from the IPOD only, but for 39 bucks I am happy that I can now get CD quality sound through the HU.

This unit plugs into the XM jack on the back of the head unit. The disadvantage is that I had to UNPLUG the XM connection, Thus no XM radio, but this is a good trade off for me as prefer IPOD over XM. I will be looking into splicing a Y-harness to see if that will allow use of both, but for now I am happy with the trade-off.

When I plugged in the adapter, the XM button no longer functions, but I can now access the ipod via the CD/Aux button. Pressing the button changes the display from CD to CDC and allows me to play the Ipod from the CDC display.

As I said, I will research a Y-harness to see if I can get he XM to work with the Ipod and will keep you posted.

Does it display the song info on the HU like the Dice Electronics unit does?

Re: Got my Ipod to work with 07 RTL HU on CD/AUX for $39

I have one too from PepBoys for $59 + tax...I am too lazy to return it even though I found cheaper price elsewhere...I am tired of opening up my dash after so many times.

1. It will charge the iPod.

2. Mine has an aux jack too so I plug in a male-to-male stereo cable and use it for other audio sources.

3. iPod interface won't allow you control the iPod through the radio buttons...it only sends the audio signal to the radio.

4. The volume coming from iPod interface seems a little bit low compared to the aux input.

But I believe it is well worth the money if you don't care about the iPod control from your radio.

Check you Sound check option in your IPOD. This the one that evens outs all volume levels on all songs. This will impact your volume output if this feature is turned on...
