single din alpine

I ordered a metra single din kit to mount my alpine 9857. Unfortunately as you can see by the picture (sorry about the quality, shaky hands) the HU sticks out a lot and doesn't even allow the included trim piece to slide into place. Name: Imported Photos 00004.jpg

I tried a din chassis but it didn't seem to mount on the HU so I opted to use the included mounting hardware. My question is are there more than one type of single din chassis out there?, also hofffam, I noticed you have a single din alpine HU. What dash kit are you using?

Re: single din alpine

I had the Alpine 9857 installed by World Wide Stereo. I pulled the receipt and it has #997876 as the dash kit. Must be a mistake, I don't see that number on Metra's site. It must be the 997870. Anyway, it fits and looks great!

Re: single din alpine

Thanks. There must be a different way to get the headunit to stay in the din chassis because this one doesn't look like it would work.

Re: single din alpine

I think that chassis was from an old clarion HU that I had. Does anyone know where I can find a din chassis for the alpine 9857?
