I want to listen to my IPOD in my RTS. What do I need to do?
I have tried 4 different FM trasmitters and they are GARBAGE. What do I need to do to listen to my Ipod in my RTS? It sucks they dont have the aux slot like the RTL. What are my options?
Thanks for your opinions. |

Re: I want to listen to my IPOD in my RTS. What do I need to do?
There are a few options....I use the usa Spec device...I've never had problems, and it has worked flawlessly(ok...almost minus the restarting in the same place...no interference) for me. You can search for more info. There are a couple others that I can't recall the name of. Others will chime in.
Here's a thread USA Spec Ipod Adapter Last edited by jimmychoi : 04-07-2008 at 06:01 PM. |

I've heard many good things about the USAspec adapter and also the PIE Ipod Adapter discussed in this thread: PIE Ipod Adapter

Its not a cheap solution, like all Honda aftermarket add-ons, but it is covered by Honda, and doesn't risk violating your warranty. (not that that is much of a danger). I considered putting in an aftermarket radio with the aux option... which is less expensive than Music-Link. However I came to like the buttons on the existing radio. Honda's philosophy of using big buttons for key functions is the right way to do controls.. imho. So when I go in for my first service, I will add Honda's solution.

LINK = Honda Music Link Also, I am not sure if they would do it, but to have it installed through the storage door under the radio would be far better an option for me than into my glovebox. I wonder if you'll be able to purchase a music-link and install yourself, as it lists the product as a dealer-installed accessory.

So I called my local dealer. They do not have a Music Link solution, or any other... at least he could find none. I see the reference some one else mentioned here at: Honda Ridgeline Accessories - Genuine Factory Honda Accessories, made by Honda for your Honda. claims to be a Honda accessory. This is probably what the call I received was referencing. Sorry for the confusion. Good news is, if you don't want to do the installation, you can probably take the online PDF instructions to any good installer and have it done for a total less than the Music Link solution. And maybe have them do it the way you want it.

Re: I want to listen to my IPOD in my RTS. What do I need to do?
Get the USA Spec. I've had mine for a few months and haven't had any problems. The unit is only the size of a Post-It, and installation is super easy. The dash comes off in less than a minute and the unit plugs right in. I ran the plug into the compartment under the head unit so the iPod out of sight when the truck is parked. The only thing that took any time was deciding where to install the unit itself. The other nice thing is it has the RCA jack if you want to add after-market satellite radio or other accessories in the future.
Just be aware - the hybrid mode doesn't work with the iPod Nano and a couple others. |

Re: I want to listen to my IPOD in my RTS. What do I need to do?
Don't know about this particular question, but if the product mentioned is a Honda accessory, and you want to install yourself, try H&A . . . they seem to carry virtually all of the original Honda accessories, and also provide outstanding on-line installation instruction. I did my rear camera & a few other accessories that way - saves a bunch on install labor, BUT don't forget you lose the "total" (parts & labor) warranty coverage you get if the dealer installs it.
