My point on current and heat was just to say they are usually related. An amplifier gets warm when current is drawn. I am not aware of an amplifier where that is not true. I know that amplifier topology (class A, B, etc.) affects amplifier efficiency.
I think it is perfectly reasonable to put bass blockers in the wiring harness near the headunit instead of at the speakers. Maybe insert a 4 pin Molex piece.....
