Sirius antenna install?
Hello folks,
As I stated in another post I insalled my Sirius unit last night and just needed to clean up the install by hiding the wires. My problem is placing the antenna. I cannot for the life of me find a place to get the wire inside the truck other than the four door and the back slider. I have searched for this information and came up with a post that stated you can remove the brake light and get the wire in by following the brake light wires to the inside of the cab. If this is the case I assume all I would have to do is remove the head liner. Does the headliner just pop off like the dash cover? Anyhow any help would be great. Thanks much. |

I have installed a Sirius sportster (remote head unit and I install the antenna inside the ridgeline on the dash just left of the passanger side speaker and upclose to the windshield and the system works great ...... No need to go outside the truck as far as I can tell .
Enjoy Len |

Re: Sirius antenna install?
When I had Sirius hooked up to my aftermarket Kenwood head-unit, the stereo guy who did the install just ran the antenna wire up underneath the front windshield pillars and wire-tied it to a up near the overhead center console. He says it didn't need to go on the outside and I've never had any problems getting reception.

Re: Sirius antenna install?
I installed my antenna ( sirius ) outside the truck for better reception. I have experimented before and at times the "acquiring signal" comes on a little more frequently when installed inside. I guess I would consider leaving it inside the vehichle if I lived in a city or an area of hooligans. I don't.
My antenna is installed running the wire outside the drivers door frame, tucked inside the gasket that runs along the windshield- this took minutes, from there I further tucked it along the top of the windshield to the center, the antenna module sits, unpretentious on the roof, centered just above the windshield line where it meets the roof. works for me. |

Re: Sirius antenna install?
I placed the antenna on the roof just in front of the third brake light. I ran the wire under the rear plastic molding, under the roof rack cover strip to the front (I do not have a roof rack). From there I tucked it under the windshild moulding to the front passanger door then into the cab and under the dash. You can see about 4" of wire if you look hard when the door is open, other wise it is invisable.

Re: Sirius antenna install?
I mounted my XM magnetic antenna on the corner of my hood (and I'll try to explain this as I can't find a pic of it) by the driver's side up close to the windshield wipers. It's hardly noticable and gives great reception. The wire is not noticable and fits in the seam between the pillar and door. I ran it under the weather strip, thru the dash, under the seat, etc.
PM me if you want a pic of what I'm talking about and I'll snap a few. wrenrj1@aol.com Wren |

Re: Sirius antenna install?
I just had mine installed and they ran the wires through the 3rd brake light and along the wires on the side of the roof(inside), just followed the brake light wires. only wire showing is the wire coming out of the brake light and it utilizes the plastic cover included in the kit

Re: Sirius antenna install?
I did mine the same way, I did not pull the headliner out. I just tucked it and ran it down the c pillar on the pax side.
I ran my GPS ant up there too.. so they are side by side. |
