Question Ipod Holder / Charger

Attention ROC Audiophiles:

I am looking for the BEST IPOD HOLDER/Charger I can find. I would appreciate any and all input from everyone. Has anyone heard of TuneFlex Aux by Griffin?

Griffin Technology: TuneFlex Aux

I am preparing to upgrade my stereo system in my Ridge. I have bought all new speakers. I would like to add a MP3 Player / Nano probably. Will I also need to add USA Spec adapter?

Thanks,

Lex Luthor

That looks cool! I see why you need a good holder now. I'll be watching this thread for future use!

It looks interesting. Not my preference to use the cigarette lighter for power and mounting but very positive review from iLounge Griffin TuneFlex Aux (2008) | iLounge

Have you checked out Crutchfield? They have several units that have aux in and they also sell the adapter--don't recall who makes it off the top of my head. You might even be able to find a deal with the adapter coming free with a particular head unit.
I'm still trying to decide myself which mount I want for my iPhone. I don't like the big bulky contraptions but I also don't want the cigarette lighter type. That's just me. Have you checked out Pro Fit's website? They offer several types of mounts for some of the Apple products and other MP3 players, Satellite, etc. Look through all their sections:

Mounts for Handheld and Mobile Electronics - Pro.Fit Minnesota US

Good luck--take pics when you're done!

Lex-
I just ordered the Griffin TuneFlex Aux yesterday from eBay ($14 with shipping). A pretty cheap way to go in order to experiment. I hope it works well. I will keep you posted.

Re: Ipod Holder / Charger

I don't think you will be disappointed.
I have had one for several months. I use it with my Apple iTouch. I was a bit worried that anything that plugs into a power outlet wouldn't be secure but it has been. I can adjust the positioning of the unit. The unit charges as necessary and it also stops the playback when you turn off the ignition. Nice not to have to remember to press the stop function. I need to tidy up the audio cord placement. Comes with the unit and the mini plug simply connects to the Aux jack.

Thanks for the photo CollegeBoy. What did you use to mount your PDA/Phone? And how does it attach?

Re: Ipod Holder / Charger

The PDA is a Blackberry 8830. The holder is from ProClip USA
It is a two part mounting system. The vehicle mount is the base that clips to the dash. The second part is the device holder that connects to the vehicle mount. This one was specifically for the Blackberry. They have a huge listing of various device holders.

The assembly took all of 2 minutes. No screws, drilling etc. Simply clips solidly to the dash. Very high quality and works extremely well. I ordered on line direct from the company. They were great and shipped within a day to Canada arrived at my place within 3.

Highly recommend.

Re: Ipod Holder / Charger

If you buy a USA spec, you won't need a charger........

spitfisher-
It seems that the PXAMG might be a better selection than the USA Spec (better integration???)...plus my vehicle is leased, so I might not want to disassemble, reassemble the dash a couple of times. Correct me if I'm wrong...please.
