Thumbs up Re: Any RL - Owning Hams doing HF or VHF/UHF from their RL?

If anyone has built these antenna mounts like Vanessa and Steve made. Please send me a pm. I want to buy a set both right handed and left handed. I want to mount a Icom 2820 in the Ridgeline and it uses two dual band antennas. I was ready to drill holes until I saw the pictures.

I also chickened out when I saw the side curtain airbags.

Re: Any RL - Owning Hams doing HF or VHF/UHF from their RL?

Yes, I put in my Yaesu 7800 and a mag mount on top. Works great. I'm thinking about whether or not I want to invest in a Yaesu 857 and Atlas 120, but haven't decided. I have an 890 AT and Outbacker which works fine when you are standing still. I don't know that I would HF that much while moving. I just couldn't bear to cut a hole in my new truch which is why I am using the mag mount. The removable head on the 7800 works nicely.

Re: Any RL - Owning Hams doing HF or VHF/UHF from their RL?

I installed a Kenmore TM-V7A with a remote kit in my Ridgeline. The transceiver is located under the driver's seat. The remote head is mounted in a piece of black foam below the power outlets. I have two MFJ-201 speakers mounted on a piece of sheetmetal and fitted into the lower cubbyhole. The dualband glass mount antenna is a Pro-AM Model GM 270. See attached photos.

FYI - my HAM call is KC8BCH. I only have my techician's license so far. Maybe after I retire I will have time to get the advanced ticket. I am planning to get a handheld rig in the near future, which I will carry with me in the RL, but I have no plans to drill holes in the RL.
