Smile Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

Well BassBud, all I can say is "Thank you, Thank you, Thank You!!" And thanks to ROC. I had actually called XM this afternoon and given them a credit card number to keep my service going when my 90 days expires(at the regular full price of about $142 for a year). Then I joined the ROC this evening and read your posting for the first time. I had to call the number you provided 3 times until someone finally agreed to give me a year's service for $77.00. Very cool.

Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

I don't know how to say this without it sounding bad, but your best bet is to call when the "overflow" call center is not going to answer the call. You will know if you have reached the overflow center if you get someone with an indian accent. If this happens to you, DO NOT give them your radio code, and just call back later. For me, the best time was about 1AM central. Please note I have nothing against Indian people. It's just that XM (and many other compaies that outsource) limit their outsource reps to very specific scripts; therefore, you will not get any sort of special deals.

Sadly, my former employer, PayPal, has resorted to outsourcing basic customer service to the Phillipines. The funny part is that you cannot have a PayPal account in the Phillipines.... Hmmmm......

Thumbs up Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

It is 10 minutes to 6 PM here in Fl. Just got off the phone with a XM Rep, at (800) 732-6360. Got the $77 subscription. But the rep. said it wasn't a RL thing but a promo they are running for select new subscribers that ask for it.
It really didn't matter why I got the discount only that I got it.

Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

I received a card in the mail today offerring $77 deal with no reactivation fee. My trial period ended in mid-November. They claim the offer ends January 31, 2006.

Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

I have called XM and asked to for the $77.00 renewal. They said they need a "Promotion Code". Is this true? Does anyone know this code?

Did you call: (800) 732-6360? That's the number that has had pretty good success (vs. the usual XM number)..... If you did not call this number, take a look at the first post in this thread.

If you did call this number, I don't think there is a promotion code unless you were one of the ones who got a post card offer in the mail. The general recommendation is to keep calling back (800/732-6360) until you find a cooperative agent!

Good luck!

Ridgeboy just keep the pressure on as you talk, if they don't give you the $77 deal then thank them or ask for a supervisor if that doen't work thank them and call back later, hopeing to get another agent that will find it and give it to you. Some of us are blessed quicker than others as you can see on this thread.

Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

If they ask you for the promo code, you have reached their call center in India. These people have NO authority to give you the discount without the promo code. Asking for a supervisor will simply get you placed on permanent hold or disconnected. Also, do not give them your radio ID until they have confirmed they will give you the discount. The reason why is if your promotional period is even close to expiring, they will turn your radio off. They did it to me. If they ask you for the promo code, just tell them you left it at home, and call later. I called around 1AM, got a US call center, and got the discount with no questions asked. If you get someone with a foreign accent, you have likely reached the India call center, and you won't get anywhere without a promo code. Also, call the number referenced in a previous post.
