Interesting.......didn't know that......

The company's May 2004 proxy statement[23] notes that four directors are subject to director designation agreements with GM, American Honda, the chairman, and the CEO. Four additional directors are investors, and two are not affiliated with any significant stockholders.

At that time, GM owned 8.6% of the Class A common stock (a voting percentage of less than 1%) and Honda owned 13% (with a voting percentage of 3.6%).

Unless they unanimously agree otherwise, control of the company remains with the preferred shareholder and noteholders of the company, including Hughes Electronics, GM, Honda, and several private investment groups.

Thumbs up Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

Just called to ask for the discount and the lady was very cordial and polite. She even started my subscription after my free trial period ends, about 45 days away.

Also, she set my son up with the family plan for $6.99 a month.

Thank you for all the help and information.

Brad

At any rate, Honda has a large stake in XM and its success.

Thumbs up Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

Just joined the forum -- this is my first post. I'm really glad this thread was here. I was able to reference it to my operator who quickly gave me the $77 deal for my 2008 RTL (silver with NAVI). Thanks so much for all the info here.

I wonder if they'll let me have it again for my wife's 2005 Odyssey?

Red face Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

They will not give you the ROC discount on the Odyssey but will give you the family plan discount which is almost as good-$85 a year. Just ask for that.

Happy listening, Brad

I would call and try it...What's the harm? The worse case, they say no, or offer a special price for a second XM.

Actually there is no ROC discount. Although a lot of people on this forum think the $77 deal is only for Ridgeline owners. Honda, and other manufacturers put XM in other vehicles too, and give a 3 month trial. The $77 deal is supposed to be a one time special as a winback promo., but many of us have already had this deal twice and a few a third time.

I doubt XM knows what vehicle your XM tuner is in. You just give them the tuner number when you call.

Re: XM Radio -- How to get the discount

I called XM just now and threw them a curve. I wanted to take another car with an existing XM account (which was at full price, paid quarterly) and then put that car under my new account at the $77+6.99/mo (2nd acct.). I figured the battle would be confusing and immense.... I was wrong. It only took two times to say how the account would be set up and they got it right.

They tried to credit card me... they were denied
They tried to tell me the bill would be ~$164+6.99/mo (second car). I said that I want the $77 deal. She asked if I had a code, I did not. A few seconds pass and she says ok. And also told me that the $77 deal is a one time thing. (uh huh )

$77 for the first car
$6.99/mo for the second car (~$84/yr forever when with the primary car)
minus balance on the first car's existing account which was paid quarterly
I could have tried to get the $77 twice on the same account, but I wasn't into dealing with a hassle today. hassle free>$7

mailing me a bill (nothing was said to me about an extra paper/mailing fee)
Owe $136.95
