Go look at the audio Honda puts in a Civic -- the Ridgeline is definitely short-changed in that department.

The Civic LX & EX get a 350W system with AM/FM, CD, mp3/AUX jack & mp3/wma capabilities. The EX adds a subwoofer. And of course the EX-L adds XM.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but the CD player in my RTS plays mp3 and wmv files without any issues. I've burned a few CDs with these and it does just fine.

It's not actually playing the encoded mp3 or Windows Media file itself. What your hearing is the result of burning an audio CD using a compressed file as the source. When burning an audio CD, the compressed and/or encoded file is converted to a cd audio file. None of the RLs audio units will play the actual mp3 itself unless it is burned as an audio cd. It can see how it would be confusing to understand and explain. Some units, like the mp3-capable unit in the Civic, can play an actual mp3 CD (in addition to a regular audio CD).

Re: Radio Data display for FM

^^ :yeahthat:

and yes honda has some serious catching up to do regarding the RL audio system when compared to other vehicles.

sound is quite good, but the lack of aux input really kills it for anyone on a budget who is trying to stay stock.
