Re: Day Time Running Lights - self-install summary

While I'm in agreement for the need of daytime running lights (after all, what was Honda thinking in not including such a simple safety device?) I've found that simply putting up with the @#$%! bleeping noise when I turn off the truck with the lights left on and then locking the truck with the remote, turns off the headlights. 'Course, one has to put up with the bleeping noise when starting the truck as well.

Hope Honda incorporates this safety feature in the future. After all, the truck is so well designed for safety otherwise. Five star crash ratings, incredible stability, etc.

However, kudos for posting the impressive wiring explanations and photos. Good job!

Cheers,
David

Re: Day Time Running Lights - self-install summary

I'm a first-time caller, long-time listener. Installing DRL for Canadian licensing.
I have also installed the HAMSAR 45040, but have hit a road block.
The green wire is the pick-up or sense wire that detects power, and is to be wrapped around the spark plug wire. For me this doesn't work. Can anyone tell me what else the green wire can connect to under the hood? I'd rather not route the wire through the firewall into the cabin, but if I must I will.
So I will need to know what wire belongs to an oil pressure switch, or other high point 12V signal when the ignition is in run position.
(smithk1, any luck???)
THX!

Re: Day Time Running Lights - self-install summary

Just imported a slightly used RTX from the Bronx into Canada and have to do the DRL thing. CTC carries the 45040 which brings all lights on full all the time. Don't want that one. I'd like to source out the 45035 but would like to know if anyone using it has had people flash their lights at them because they are burning their high beams in the daytime. I know it chokes them back by 60% but they are still aimed high and wondered if it was a factor in day to day use. If so then I'll get the 45020 or 45030 (same thing only one's weatherproof).
Thanks for the input folks.

Re: Day Time Running Lights - self-install summary

I have the 60% high beam DRL's and when I meet my wife driving my Ridge, I don't think they are as bright as some of the GM factory DRL's. I am very satisfied with the results.
