Re: Magnaflow instalation question.

Super, no idea why you'd have to disconnect the battery unless you were welding the exhaust on the truck. Only suggestion I have is use some WD 40 or some other sort of lube on the rubber bushings. Simple install shouldn't be that hard, have fun and enjoy...

Re: Magnaflow instalation question.

The only reason why the battery disconnect is recommended is to ensure no problem with the vehicles electrical system when welding. Most muffler shops won't do it, but factory service manuals will recommend disconnecting the battery for many different item, even when it does not seem necessary. Another reason might be for the ECU to reset the settings if they system could change; applies more to air intake changes I think. No problems with mine when the exhaust was changed out.

Yeah, WD 40 is highly recommended on the rubber bushings. Its nearly impossible to get them on/off with out it, but using a little lubricant makes all the difference.

Re: Magnaflow installation question.

I just installed the exhaust and as the instructions said, I disconnected the battery before removing the old one. It sounds great, but it doesn't feel like it has more power or torque. Has anyone run theirs through a Dyno test machine? If so, what was the outcome? Was there any gaines in power or torque?

Re: Magnaflow installation question.

I do not believe you will / would experience any noticable increase in horsepower etc. Changing out the exhaust may look nicer and sound "badder" than the stock pipes, but the performance increase would be minimal at best.

Re: Magnaflow installation question.

The Dyno guys only tested it after Intake, Exhaust and ECU upgrades, not in between. And yes after all three mods, you WILL feel the difference.
