Stupid Question re: front plate holder...

.... but I want to be sure. To put on the front plate holder, is it really just the two screws? Is it as simple as pop off the cover and screw it on? That seems too easy and not very secure. I have the plate holder but no instructions.

Like I said, a stupid question, but I don't want to hurt my new baby! LOL!

Thanks!
Steve

Re: Stupid Question...

After looking at mine, that seems to be all there is to it.

Re: Stupid Question...

Yes! But use the thinest and smallest screwdriver you could get to pop the square tabs. You could probably use a utility(sheet rock) blade to do it.

Re: Stupid Question...

You may also want to cover it with electical tape first before you pop it with a screw driver. That's what the service tech advised to keep from scratching the paint......

Re: Stupid Question...

Here is another stupid question...you did not get a front plate holder when you bought your truck?? Mine came with the truck, but I took them off and the square tabs were in my glove compartment and I popped them on..

Re: Stupid Question...

I think it is different with each state, some states do not require front plates, so the dealers probably throw them away, or it could be that they just forgot to put it on

Re: Stupid Question...

My state (Indiana) does not require the plate holder so it was not installed, it was just in the truck. Since I don't put decals on my vehicles I want to put a Dive Flag plate on the front.

Re: Stupid Question...

Man, you guys without front license plate holders are so lucky! I hate how front license plate holders just really wreck the smooth lines of any Honda. I specifically requested that my 99 Accord come without a front license plate holder, and even though it is against the law here in CA, my dealer complied. I was bummed to see all the RL's on the dealer's lot come pre-installed with front license plate holders when I bought mine, but I figured it's a truck so it wouldn't dimish the look that much. I'm ok with my front license plate partly because it's the only place I can stick a license plate frame on (the rear just doesn't accommodate one), and partly because I finally got a hefty ticket for not having one in my Accord (damn karma caught up to me ).

Re: Stupid Question...

methodtim -- Same here, ruins looks of RL. I ordered a new 1991 Mitsubishi 3000gtvr4 and I never put front plates on for same reason. Same thing with my 1995 Mitsu Diamante. Both plates and brackets are still brand new and I carry them in trunk just incase. Just got plates for my RTL and front plate & holder is in trunk.

I live in So Calif. also and am probablly pushing my luck, 14 + years and no plates.

What I'm wondering is -- How much in the fine? $$$$

Thanks,

Joe
