The brakes don't make noise when driven. However they do when the brakes are applied. Sounds a bit gravely or a grinding sound. It's not loud, but noticeable. The pads and rotors are brand new and this is expected for the first 500 miles or so. The pads have an orange colored texture that looks like 100 grit sand paper. It's so that the old brake rotors can be used without the need for maching/turning them, and to aid in a quick bed-in period, as I understand.

I don't expect the sound to completely go away, but it should be barely noticeable with the windows closed.

My other truck had the same EBC dimpled/slotted rotors but different pads and were pretty quiet.

Can you give me an idea of what these EBC rotors and pads cost for both front and rear? I usually prefer the OEM but if you say these are better then I'll certainly take a look when it's time.
Sure thing.

It'll vary some but expect about $600 for everything. I'm sure you'll greatly appreciate the vast improvement, when the time comes. Even just the front brakes, where the biggest improvement will be gained, will probably make most people very happy.

Re: Pictures of Brake Upgrade

On the fluid: I was confusing my reading on silicone DOT 5 vs. a synthetic DOT 3/4 fluid such as the Valvoline fluid. Guess they both might be considered "synthetic".

Also did a little internet research on the Mityvac's and similar and of course if your not careful you get what you pay for doing internet research, but certainly there are places such as here where folks do try to give the straight scoop. General consensus is that some folks did have problems introducing air back into the lines with a Mityvac. My experience has been pretty good however. I think the key with the Mityvac is to go very slowly when you crack the valve to minimize the possibility (um.. prevent) any air seepage back through the threads. The Mityvac has been a good thing for me especially when an immediate helper isn’t around to help with the traditional way. In the past I have had my wife, daughter, friends and neighbors help however.

I do appreciate all this stuff because while I’ve been working on cars all my life, and prefer to do all the major and minor stuff myself, but the extent my experience will never compare to someone who is actually actively involved in the industry.

Just came across this interesting item:

Buy yourself an impact screwdriver from Sears all you do is hit it with a hammer.

I should point out the pads in question are top of the line carbon pieces made by one of the largest brake suppliers to the racing community. I have no doubt of their purported racing experience or success.

My hopes were that maybe they improved over the years. For street cars I can't say much positive aside from that they don't wear out Maybe that's why the friction was so low. In 15 years they are the second set I've used.

My statement above in no way reflects poorly on the EBC pads, and in this case actually makes them a cut above in my experience.
