Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle
This is by-far one of the best posts for saving us money!! The prices that dealers charge for this utterly simple task are outrageous!! Thanks, again, Truckin'!!
I have a couple of notes or suggestions to add to your excellent write-up: 1. You don't need a thumb nail or small screwdriver to release the stoppers (see Truckin's 2nd photo). If you reach from the outside of the glove box, you can push the stopper inward with your finger. Then, slightly close the glove box door to release the pressure on the stopper to completely remove it. 2. When I replaced the filter in the holder, I noticed a gap at the front and rear edges of the air filter. (I used a Wix filter, so an OEM may not have this problem.) If you look at the filter holder assembly, there is a groove to hold the first pleat of the filter in place. There is one for both the front and rear of the filter (see my photos). Otherwise, the only other item is to make sure you align the new filter correctly using the arrow showing air flow direction. Thanks, once again!! You saved me about $50!!! |

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle
I did not care for the t-shirt deal and did some research. I bought the MICRONAIRE. It was also less expensive. I can tell you that it is well made and much thicker then the oem.

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle
Great post. Great pics. Just used it today to clean my filter.
Had an idea that it was behind the glove box , but couldn't quite figure it out. Thanks for the info |

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle
Hey guys, I've skipped around on this thread a bit so not sure if this was mentioned, but I just did my truck and two other family vehicles. This site was the cheapest I've found. Bought three and them came out to $16 shipped. They were at my door in 3 days.

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle
Thanks for that. OH, you meant $16.00/each haha, I thought you meant you got all three for $16.00 shipped. I was thinking that would be a steal, or do I need to enter some kind of code or something to get 3 of them with shipping for $16.00 total?
