Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle

What everyone else says, goes for me too.
I haven't done this yet, but seeing your photos makes me think I should move this up my "to do" list as I am at just over 31k miles.

I'll be examining/studying your bull bar install thread in the short time as well. great stuff!

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle

Checked mine at 15K while installing my USASpec in my glove box. The filter was filthy! It was literally black and looked like it had mold in it. Those of you in humid climates like I live in the SE, might want to check yours early too. I changed it in about 20 min. total.

and where can I find one of those dash pads? Does it flip up, or is it hard to remove?

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle

We got one of very few dash plates made by a fellow who was unable to stay in business. Ours flips up. However, you are in luck because 5S Dude is on the verge of having his cubby hole cover ready for prime time. It's much classier than the one we have. Here's the thread:

Added some dash board decoration.

Watch for updates. He should be announcing the availability of his dash plate soon.

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle

This thread is a good reminder because this past summer, my a/c was not blowing well at all. When I was at the Honda dealer last week (wife's Ody in for repair) I mentioned it to the Service Mgr. He mentioned the air filter(s).

Not sure if there is more than one, and didn't feel like reading thru 11 pages on this thread. But I will start with the glove box filter.

Pam, is it still running fine?

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle

I bet that's your problem. We had a drastic reduction in air and A/C cooling.

Yes, ours is still going strong but this is something I'll want to replace before we come down to the desert to visit you in April.

Re: Clean or replace your own cabin filter, improve air flow & save a bundle

I got a fliter that is a perfect fit from CarQuest PN:89815 0r 90016P
It also has the instructions in the box. $20 with tax. They had it in stock. I just walked in and they handed the thing to me.
