S.F. bay area mini meet, Mt. Diablo or Clearlake or bath as 2 mini meets?

I have so far members interested in the meet , but I need to know if we want it at Clearlake or Mt. Diablo ? Or should we make it 2 meets , one for the north bay and one for the bay area proper ? I will be there for the whole weekend . I am going to a birthday party on Friday the 26th , so I will have saturday and sunday for a meet or meets , though it would be great if we all could meet together at one meet, both places are beautiful to see .

As much as I love to drive my truck, I do live in the shadow of Mt. Diablo, so that'd be my choice.

My brother in-law Armando grew up there in Brentwood, I remember many 4th of july get togethers there . I am portuguese/dutch/german/jew but I was the only anglo in a portuguese/mexican/indian family; 4 brothers and 1 sister . My brother in law is of the Perez family . I was always the little gringo boy and stood out with my red hair . .

I think you will recognize this picture of Mt. Diablo , I took this when I was on my way to Bakersfield to visit my nephew in January .

Ah yes, home sweet home. The town is probably alot different than you remember it as a kid. Nowadays there's a heckuva lot more red hair out here!

I do not recognize Pittsburg except for Hazel's on 14th in Antioch , between Pittsburg and Antioch . My mom moved there in 63 with all 6 of us kids ( from Hanford ) . It was a scary 13 years in the Pittsburg school system . I learned to run fast, but that was from running from my 4 brothers, when you are the only little white boy with red hair , you stand out . I swear, it wasn't till I started to shave and saw myself in the mirror did I notice how white I am , I was the one with a sunburn instead of a dark tan .

I will be out of the country when you meet, but just thought I inform you that there is a 30 minute drive to the top of Mt. diablo. You may want to consider Coyote Point near SFO.

What Blue says is true but that 30 minutes sure is fun, very twisty roads to the top to test the Ridge's handling. BTW the very first ROC meet was with me, Blue and CaliforniaRidgeline at the top of Mt. Diablo at June 25th '05.

If you have never been to Mt. Diablo, it is worth the drive up. But you should plan to stay for several hours to enjoy the sight. there is a $5 entrance fee.

Also, there is limited parking at the top so if you have more than 3 people or plan to picnic, you need to select another lot that is more condusive to tailgating. Have fun!
