Time for a road trip

Since I'm doing some work for the state of New York, I do a lot of traveling back and forth to Albany. It's nice but I have always been intrigued by the state of Vermont and wanted to check it out. Since I live in Arizona and have little experience with the north east, I was surprised to look at a Google map and see how close Vermont was to Albany. It's like 30 or 40 miles - who knew! Anyway, I'm headed back to Albany at the end of March or beginning of April for another long week of fun filled meetings. I will probably finish up on Thursday or Friday. I was thinking about staying one more night and getting up early the next morning to drive a 100 mile or so loop around Vermont taking pictures. Could you people living in the area be able to suggest a route for me. I would love to check out some covered bridges or waterfalls. I know it will be better in the fall and I plan on checking it out then also, but until then maybe you can hook me up.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Time for a road trip

I'm sure some of our Vermont'ers will chime in shortly, but I spent three days in Vermont back in September during my honeymoon. Absolutely pisturesque! I loved it there and will probably return. I spent my time in the Montpellier/Stowe area. Taking backroad trips gives scenery right out of a Norman Rockwell painting.

Re: Time for a road trip

Although from NH right next door, I have spent many a weekend in vermont on the trusty Goldwing...My advice from Albany would be to follow Rte 100 north as this takes you through some of the more picturesqe places. If you go on rte 91 or 87 on a weekend, you'll be sharing a superhighway with nothing but Volkswagen jetta's with MASS plates and ski racks...(sorry to my mass friends))not sure how far you want to go but here is a link to some route's I've done. Enjoy! BMB

Re: Time for a road trip

Excellent! Thanks for the advice. I would probably need to be back to Albany around 3:00 in the afternoon but I could be on the road by 6:00am easily. I'm at work here in Phoenix everyday at 5:30am. I have no problems with people in Volkswagen, I use to drive one back in the 70's (which was quite a trick considering I'm 6'4" short). The only drawback is that I won't have my Ridgeline but you can't have everything I guess. Again thank's for the feedback. Closer to the trip date, I'll let you know what I decide on and you guys can give maybe give me some more pointers.

Re: Time for a road trip

We have many small states that are so close to each other....in NY we see a lot of drivers from New England all the time...Mostly MA and VT.

A lot of interstate travelling in the Northeast...business and pleasure.
