Question Off road tire pressure

How much tire pressure should be removed when travelling over a very rocky back road? 5 pounds? 10 pounds? I hear this helps keep from blowing out a tire. I did that on a back road going down to Toroweep in the North Grand Canyon area. I had no spare to get back over 50 miles. Not fun.

For the kind of "Off-Roading" the Ridgeline will see I'd keep it above 15psi...Anything under 10psi you better have bead locks or atleast a CO2 tank with you to re-seat the tire/bead on the rim....Just my opinon/experience

Re: Off road tire pressure

Thanks for the reply. So, from your experience, what do you set your Ridgeline at for PSI on a rocky back road?

Try between 17 and 20 PSI and let us know how it goes. Oh, do not forget to pull the VSA fuses as with the tire pressure set this low, the VSA will be on regardless if the switch being engaged or not.

Been 4 wheeling about 40 years now. Only time I left air out of the tires was in deep sand. Never had a blowout on a rocky trail.
