It does occur to me... that despite all the sniping at our dyslectic president, if he could run again... he'd win again.

Are we digressing?

Lets see... dealer problems... to... how to deal with dealers... to quotes... to the president. That be... a digression.

In November, will it be "met the new boss, same as the old boss"?

Question Re: Honda Tech and Ridge owner here to help.

Hi, I really appreciate your offer of help. I'm not too good at cars, but I love my Ridgeline. My problem is - I got the factory installed tonneau cover with lock when I first got the truck early last year. I remember that the alarm would sound when I opened the tailgate. It doesn't now, and the dealer said I am remembering wrong. Recently, my sister reminded me that she remembered it too. Also, I read that the tailgate isnt supposed to open when the tonneau cover is locked, but that was never the case on my truck. Now, the cover lock doesnt operate at all, a problem I had fixed under warrantly before. I have 36400 miles and counting and probably put almost 3000 every month.
Any suggestions? Is the alarm supposed to sound for the tailgate open?
Thanks.
Deb M

It never set off the alarm for my RL w/OEM tonneau. Since the gate does not lock and is independent of the auto locks, it shouldn't

I believe only RTL comes with factory alarm. (if this was a serious question)

Re: Honda Tech and Ridge owner here to help.

I have a "panic" button on the key. But other than that, how is that alarm suppose to trigger?

I thought that the red light on the dash indicates an alarm is set, but I thought that just shut-off the fuel in case of triping the "alarm", but didn't actually make noise.

I thought that "alarm" was triggered by the wrong key being inserted. But no proximity alarm, no physical detection such as a broken window.

I'm speaking of the stock alarm system... not the add-on such as the Karr system.

To my knowledge there is no difference in the alarm system between the trim levels.
