Different Kind of Wind Noise
I used the search feature and couldn't find a description of a wind noise like I'm experiencing. One of the constants out in far West Texas is wind! sometimes lots of it! I've noticed when I'm going into the wind or rather when I'm going against an indirect wind, say roughly 20-50 degrees from straight into a 25+ mph wind and I'm going approximately 55-60 MPH I get a loud wind noise like someone blowing into a very large soda bottle. It is hard to pinpoint the exact location, but seems like it may be coming from the area where the hood, front side panel & windshield all come together. Also it seems to come from the side that the wind is hitting on whether the driver's or the passenger's side.
As soon as you shift direction enough in respect to wind direction the noise stops. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks |

Re: Different Kind of Wind Noise
I have had the same noise - - the humming sound of blowing over a Coke bottle - - intermittently at around 70 mph with certain cross winds. To me, it comes from the upper right side of the windshield. Hondatech recommended using a leaf blower to identify the location of the noise. There does appear to be TSB on this issue, with Honda replacing the foam first and then the entire windshield and rubber molding. I drove a fully loaded brand new Lincoln truck over the weekend because Ford is unloading those at around 35k fully loaded, and it still doesnt stack up to the Ridge. With the widespread water leaks and wind noise on the Ridges, I am just upset the Honda didn't take the time during the design phase to identify and fix these problems. I guess I expected more from Honda. I love my Ridge but I was embarrased by the wind noise recently during a highway drive with coworkers and I now feel like the water leak is inevitable (I am at 8k miles on my 06 RTL and no leaks yet). Anyone else feel like it may be time to unload their beloved Ridge?
