Angry Front End Noise On Left Turns, Pulling Out and Stopping

I have a 06 Ridgeline with about 30,000 miles on it. It is making a "creaking" noise on left turns, when pulling out and when stopping. Whenever the front end lifts up or drops down. It makes a noise like when you walk across an old wooden floor! This is the 3rd time it's made noise in the front end. The 1st time I took it in they did some service bulletin and replaced some bolts in the steering box or something like that. That seemed to stop the noise for a little bit. The 2nd time I took it in they replaced a sway bar link and they said that fixed the problem ab out 50% so then they replaced the strut bushings (I think they said the upper ones). That fixed the problem for a few weeks, but now it's back and maybe even worse! Anyone have any thoughts? The dealer said they were gonna call the Honda Tech Line, but that was Thursday and I still haven't heard back from them! Thanks!

Re: Front End Noise On Left Turns, Pulling Out and Stopping

My 06 makes a noise coming from the front end that sounds like a medium pitched hummmm and only when turning after having parked. It happened last year and they said it was a backing plate and that they adjusted the bolts on it and now it is back, they say that they do not hear it, yet they fixed it last year. I have vert acute hearing and often hear a noise before others hear it. I was talking with a client the other day and kept hearing this fluttering noise, I excused myself and went to a rose bush about 6 feet from us and there was a cranefly trapped in a spider web. My client could not hear it when he was right over it.

Sounds like something along the lines of a strut assembly or steering unit issue.

Re: Front End Noise On Left Turns, Pulling Out and Stopping

Hiya. I have these exact noises on my '07 with 20k miles. I heard them from a few months back. At first, I thought it was bad struts or something to do with struts. I also read a few posts on this.

So I took it to my dealer who replaced the left front strut and tower bearing ect. I still had the noise. I then took it to my new dealer and had them inspect, then replace both front struts, mounts ect. I still have noise.

The dealer inspected again and after further review, phone calls, and research find it to be a completely normal noise coming from the drivetrain ( or such). There is just more going on and mostly up front so we would hear it more in this vehicle.

So far I guess I am starting to believe that, just because of what I read/heard, the multiple dealer inspections, and the truck seems perfect. So, i drive on...

I have a popping (spring) noise that sounds like the front brakes stuck and then release under pressure. My mother's car sat for a long time and when I tried to release the emergency brake and back up, the car would not go, so I gave it some gas and it made a loud pop in the rear brakes and the emergency brake released, and my Ridgeline makes the same noise, but it is not the brake.

Mine makes the noise when turning left or right in a parking lot, or backing up and turning. It has done it since the first day, and has not caused any problems.

The other day my service adviser brought my Ridgeline around after having it serviced and told me he did not like the sound and was going to get a Tech to check it out. They put sensors on the frame to listen to it and took it for a test drive. They came back and said it was the strut and ordered one. They replaced the right, I think, and it was much better, but now the popping is back.

I have the same problem except the left strut was replaced. My truck will be going back in next week to have it looked at again.

Re: Front End Noise On Left Turns, Pulling Out and Stopping

The dealer finally called me back the other day and said they spoke with the Honda Tech Line and they told them to replace the whole shock assembly. Not sure what all they are including in that, but that's what they are doing. I just need to schedule an appointment to get it done.

I don't think this is a "normal noise". I had my Ridgeline for 2 1/2 years and it just started making this noise in the last 6 months.

Thumbs up Re: Front End Noise On Left Turns, Pulling Out and Stopping

Well...no noise for 4 days now. The dealer replaced the whole left shock assembly. We'll see how long it lasts!!
