Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

Not sure if this applies, but possibly. Dealers in my area love to install the KARR aftermarket alarm system. In passive arm mode which I think is default it locks everything. Its also programmable not to.

I'm not sure what you consider having the trunk lock feature enabled.

The switch in the glove box says on and off. On will enable you to open the trunk with the release button on the trunk when the doors are unlocked. Off disables it. If in the off position, you can only unlock the trunk with one of the master keys.

Unlocking the trunk with a key will not cause the doors to auto lock. If the switch is in the on position, and the doors are unlocked..just opening the trunk and closing will not lock the doors either.

If the doors are locked, and you unlock the doors and trunk with the key fob, just open the trunk without opening a door...all will relock when closing the trunk.

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

Okay here's what mine does...If I use the key fob....and unlock my car doors and fail to OPEN a door within a certain time frame....it relocks. Otherwise it doesn't do anything. I leave my keys in my truck locked in my garage every night....if it auto locked, I'd be screwed.

The doors will not lock with the key in the ignition and the driver's seat empty, so you are safe in any case.

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

I was on the orginal post but I have looked at it 3 times.
It says when you stop the truck & get out the doors auto lock in 20 seconds.
So if this is the case & everybody else says the same thing its no way the truck would do this unless there is something wrong or it has an aftermarket alarm system with locking features. The OP needs to get back with us on this.

^lies

the doors re-lock within 20 seconds if you dont get to the handle in time. this only happens when its already locked, and you unlock it with the button on the key.

the reason it does this is in case you unlock the truck by accident.............how could that possibly happen you ask?

lets say your eating lunch at a restaurant with tight booths and your truck is locked out in teh parking lot, say your pants get tighter as your eating and say your keys are in your pocket. combine the force of the tight pants with the tight booth and you can see how all the bathroom break force gets applied directly to the unlock button!

premature unlockulating is the technical term, and it affects 1 out of 10 people every day!

They aren't in the ignition...they're on the passenger seat. Maybe I should post my address too?

Oh and I was just reading the manual...(because I'm sick at home and seriously have nothing better to do).... it says there is an emergency handle on the INSIDE of the trunk in case someone gets locked inside...and then below it says you can choose whether or not to tell children of this feature. Which kinda reads to me...in case you're the one who locked them in there and don't want them sneaking out!!!! I had a good chuckle.

You're correct, I found this on Halloween night as I was hiding in the trunk with the tailgate down (With a bowl of candy on it) . As the bigger kids would reach for the candy I would throw the lid up and scream boo I was having a great time until one of the bigger kids slamed the lid closed I started to get mad and then saw the glowing handle and popped the lid open and I thought the kid was gonna trip over his feet as he was scared twice by his own greedy actions

I'd pay money for a pic of you in your own trunk.
