Great prank! Here is a trunk prank I thought of, but haven't found the time to try. Empty the truck of all of your items and fill it with water. Drive to the gas station and pull up to the pump. Pull the drain plug on the trunk and then proceed to fill the tank normally. Stand their oblivious as "gas" is gushing out of the bottom of the truck and going everywhere. Extra points if you pretend to try lighting a cigarette standing in the puddle. I think this might get some peoples attention

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

I guess in my anger at this "lack of feature" I didn't describe it very well. What actually happens is: the Ridgeline (2006) locks on its own if you hit the unlock button on your fob but do not enter the vehicle within a short period of time (20 seconds or so). It re-locks itself and you cannot prevent it from doing so!
Turning autolock off has no effect on this problem.
The Honda dealership agrees with me and said that some dimwitted software designer in Japan decided to re-lock my doors whether I want them re-locked or not (their words not mine). This issue comes up often enough on my working truck that I would never buy another one unless the issue is resolved.
Again: Does anyone know how to hack the system to prevent the problem or otherwise overcome the problem.

I don't get it... sorry. Why is this a problem? I like the feature.

Or more to the point.... in what situation do you find this is a problem for you?

I'm listening...

They are yes-men of the lowest order. Let's hear them tell Honda anything is dimwitted except the sales force. They still know nothing about the product and a new one is due.

or,

Just open the drivers door & close it then it won't re-lock. This is not only on the Ridgeline my 2000 Acura TL does the samething. I had an aftermarket alarm system put in the car when it was brand new with auto lock RPM lock ect. But the factory alarm did the samething as the Ridgeline it would relock the doors & arm the alarm if you did not enter the car in so many seconds. I would think that most other Honda cars do the same. But its simple just open the drivers door & close it then it won't relock.

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

There have been a few other threads about this. Here is a post from me about how the trunk fits into all of this.
To stop the doors relocking themselves if you haven't opened a door after 30 seconds
For the record, my 2005 Accord does the same thing, as does my Frontier and my wife's old Prius. (Honda, Nissan, Toyota. hmmmm I sense a pattern)
Also for the record, I don't particularly care for this feature, but not a big deal (unless you do the scenario in the above link).
