Thumbs down Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

When you stop your Ridgeline and get out, the truck locks the doors in twenty seconds WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. I don't!
I want to decide when and if the doors/trunk locks. This is not a car. You get out, remove something from the bed, reach for one of the doors and it is locked! This is one of the worst software design flaws for a basic function that I have ever encountered.
None of the settings in the book will defeat the lock. Turning auto lock off does not do it either.
Does anyone know how to defeat or hack the software for this function?

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

Here is a thread on this issue.

Here is another that may be of interest.

I have not heard of anyone hacking the system to disable the locking when the key is removed... But I have not heard everything...

Oh, and welcome to the ROC!

As I mentioned in your other thread on this subject, my Ridge doors don't lock when I exit....................if they did, I wouldn't have to push the lock button when leaving the vehicle in a store parking lot! You must have something set wrong on your locking program.

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

Ditto what Chris said. The Ridge only locks on its own if you hit the unlock button on your fob but do not enter the vehicle within a short period of time. The truck will then re-lock itself.

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

Nope the Ridgeline does not auto lock itself unless you disarm /unlock it with the key fob & not open the doors to enter. I have the autolock feature set-up with my aftermarket alarm system on my Acura. I had the same thing set-up on my aftermarket system with my 94 Accord. When you get out the system will lock the doors & set the alarm in about 90 seconds. If the Ridgeline had this feature it would be about 500+ Threads on here. Everybody would be saying my Ridgeline locked me out & I had the keys inside the truck.

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

if you have the trunk lock feature enabled ( in the glove box), when you exit the truck and open the trunk, the truck locks all doors when the trunk is closed.

Iam talking about the truck doors locking when you exit the truck. I see your talking about the trunk & doors I have never had an issue with this.

Never been an issue with me either. To me, the only reason to use the glove box trunk switch would be from the inside, if you want to keep the trunk locked even when the inside doors are unlocked.

That would be an unusual situation... say at a gas station, where the kids need to get back in... have something valuable in the trunk... want to leave it locked.

Also, the valet key will not open the trunk. So if you lock the trunk with the glovebox lock, lock the glovebox, give the valet key to the valet... your trunk remains locked. A useful feature... if you use a valet service.

So I don't get the original problem. If it works as the original poster states, it is not working correctly.

Re: Kill the AUTO LOCK...PLEASE

It sounds like either you are describing your problem with the auto lock feature incorrectly or that you have a fault in the system and need to have the truck looked at for maintenance.

When you stop your truck, turn it off, remove the key from the ignition, open the door, exit, close the door and walk away...the truck should not lock by itself. If this is what is happening to you, you either have a malfunction or it is possible that you have an aftermarket device added to your truck.

What you describe should'nt happen. I park mine in the garage all the time. Unlocked when I park it, still unlocked next time I get in it, whether it is minutes or days later.

You haven't said what year Ridgeline you have. Apparently there was a problem with the door locks cycling twice and locking when they aren't supposed to on a few 2006's.

The thread I posted the link to describes a similar problem as yours, and the fix for it.

Looking for TSB 07012005
