Re: gasoline on bed

Although technically speaking.....

Picture this. You live in a dry and static-prone environment. Your truck bed is made of a composite material that attracts electricity; enough so that a mfr's warning label about transporting gasoline in a sealed container inside the composite bed is affixed to the rear flank of your truck bed side panel. Now, you've spilled some fuel in the bed.........can you picture it?

In answer to your question, "will it hurt the bed".........No.

Re: gasoline on bed

My chain saw, with a loose cap, leaked some gas/oil mix on the bed. All it did was make it look cleaner and covered the scuffs. An improvement if you ask me.

Cool Re: gasoline on bed

An old insider trick from a when I worked for a car dealer's detail shop is to use Lacquer thinner to clean floor mats, trunk areas, and hard plastics around doors. I used Lacquer thinner to clean my bed then rubbed it with some clear liquid tire shine. It looked better than new when I finished.

The Lacquer thinner removed some strange body shop dust that would not wash off. Do not use regular paint thinners. I have only found Lacquer thinner to have fast evaporation and it does not leave behind an oily residue.

Hmmm... Must go dump a half gallon of chainsaw mix that I have leftover from the Katrina cleanup into my bed & smear it around...
