Is weatherstripping under warranty?

I gotta assume it's a wear and tear item. However, the black rubber weatherstripping that seals the doors has ripped on one of my doors. I felt all the other doors and they're all in danger of ripping too. Think I could get it replaced under warranty?

I've gotta say, that's the cheapest weatherstripping I've ever seen. Holy crap. My sister's Hyundai has much thicker weatherstripping. I can really see the cost cutting Honda has made from early 90s models to my 1996 Civic to this 2007 Ridgeline.

Re: Is weatherstripping under warranty?

Mine ripped also. I paid for mine as I felt I damaged it when I caught my seat belt in the door and pulled.

Yes I told the dealer stripping was too light. dealer said it sealed better that way.
I'll be super carefull in the future.

cost was around $25 for drivers door. had to order because Honda made part of the interior color trim part of the seal. Big dealers may keep it on the shelf for all colors maybe not.

That's a load of hogwash. But dealers always come up with some garbage to try and make the complaining customer go away.

$25 isn't too bad though. I can live with that. Hopefully my dealer charges something similar. Was it easy to install?

My dealer replaced the driver side weather stripping under warranty. It had worn through at 17k.

Excellent. I'll see if the dealer will replace it under warranty. I only have about 17K, altho I believe it wore out a bit before. It doesn't bother me much so it's not a high priority. But I figure I should get it taken care of sooner than later before the mileage piles up too high.

Re: Is weatherstripping under warranty?

I've got 5200 mi @ 4.5 mo. old and mine is ripped in the bottom. I baby the hell out of the truck so not sure how it happened. Actually think it may have frozen this winter and ripped when opening the door....? Yes it is very flimsy.

Re: Is weatherstripping under warranty?

It is covered under the 36/36 warranty/ My drivers side in the '06 developed a split at 35 months and 24K miles. Dealer ordered replacement under warranty.

Re: Is weatherstripping under warranty?

Just had my second one replace @ 17,000 under warranty. The fist one was due to friction from entering and exiting the truck. (It must have something to do with my "Homer Simpson" type physic.) The second one was torn by keys. My body and the door seal....minor design flaws IMHO.

Nawww, it's a design flaw. I'm a buck forty on my best day (usually less). I'm not a lot of weight. We baby our truck too. It just happened from the opening and closing of the door. It's just cuz the weatherstripping is so dang thin. Abnormally thin. My printer paper seems to be thicker than this stuff.
