Can I get a RL replacement key by mail with VIN and key code?
I've done a search and did not find the answer to this question. I only have one key and, Murphy's Law being what it is, I need a spare key for my 06 RTL. I went to my local dealer and a key blank was $80 and programming was $80 so with tax over $170. They would not let me bring my own key blank.

I have my key code. Can another dealer make a key from the code and the VIN, without physically having my other set of keys?

Sewell Lexus did that for me on a ls400. I had to provide a copy of my drivers license, my title and my car's VIN. Key came by mail and worked perfectly.

The key could be cut by mail.... but they would not be able to program it without the vehicle and another original key.

So you would have a key that opens the doors, but won't start the vehicle.

It's the price you pay for an advanced immobilizer system.

From what I see in the service manual, the registering of the key requires the key and the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) plugged into the diag port.

My Ridge's salesman said the key gets charged while it is in the ignition. He suggested rotating keys to keep all charged.

You also have to insert the key with the buttons facing down! This allows the electrons to settle on the bottom of the buttons - which allows for a faster response in locking and unlocking the truck.

I would never talk to that salesman again!!!!!!!!!
