to all who have a front (THUMP) from their shocks!!!!!

after changing my shocks(struts) twice and no change i felt like giving up.
this past weekend i went top see a friend whos the chief mechanic at another dealership, he does work at home also!
went changed my front and rear brake pads, and all oils. went for a ride and saw the problem. he claims mosy honda techs just want to change the shock(struts)
the problem is worn out front sway bar bushings ( $ 8 item)
so i have ordered them with a new set of spark plugs, since i have 189 000 kms on my ridge.
i will let you all know if this has fixed my prob. he gurantied me it would.
stay tuned to this topic, in a few days youll get my response
Edgar

Re: to all who have a front (THUMP) from their shocks!!!!!

Honda is replacing my front right strut assembly under warranty because of what I call a "thung" noise. I wonder if it's the same. Maybe I'll call them about it.

Re: to all who have a front (THUMP) from their shocks!!!!!

I had the same thing done to my 06,thumping from right front, took it in and they replaced the strut assembly on both sides, six months later I get the exact same sound from the same place and they are telling me its a rear sway bar and it just sounds like its coming from the front??

Re: to all who have a front (THUMP) from their shocks!!!!!

Right Side Front Thump Noise? I bought my RL about 6 weeks ago. I have only put 1200 miles on it. It had 12 miles on it when I bought it. about 600 miles into it. I get this noise. It is more of a "pop". This is the sequence. I get in and start the engine. Idle for about 2 minutes. Put it into drive with brake applied. I feel the truck engage gears. I let off the brake and let the truck speed up by just idling. As soon as I apply any pressure on the throttle I hear a distinct "pop" from the passanger side front. My friends RL does the same thing except hers is an 07 and mine is 08. Also I have tried to duplicate the noise in reverse with nothing. It only does this in drive. Is this what you are experiencing?

That sounds like the ABS brake check. Details are all over this forum. It's probably the #1 question asked, not counting gas mileage related questions and rants.

Does the noise occur everytime you let off the brakes and drive forward? If not, and it only occurs when the truck has sat still for a while, I would bet that it is due to the front brake pads shifting within the calipers. At least this was proven to be my "thump" / "pop" noise when shifting to drive and starting out in the morning. My former Honda mechanic had my truck for this issue and ended up putting a piece of a business card between the caliper and the pads on both front brakes. Never heard the "pop" again until the card pieces fell out (Or burned away). With the card gone, the noise returned.

I hear this noise if the truck has sat for more than an hour. Like... I went out to have dinner and had that noise after dinner or I go to work in the morning and go to lunch 4 hours later same noise. So I dunno.
