HELP!!! My Ridgeline reaches 5500 rpm where it rev limits out and then the engine light comes on..... I was told that if I ground the ground wire from the vtec oil pressure switch this may correct the problem. Which color is the ground wire??? one wire is blue with a stripe and the other is brown with a stripe. Now, I don't mind replacing the switch but if this technique works then I know to do just that. I just don't want to keep buying parts that are fine. I ran a positive wire to the VTEC Solenoid and it clicked as to indicate that it is functional. Any Ideas???

Re: Vtec Issue Not Working Help!!!
+1 On going to the dealer... however, if you like to tinker - I'd suggest a ScanGauge II. It will give you the error codes from the Ridges computer as to why it's lighting up the check engine light. Good Luck!

Re: Vtec Issue Not Working Help!!!
Yeah, I know but I've been a mechanic for 25 years...... Just the wrong 25 years... LOL!!! I just hate to give them $90.00 to tell me it's a $45.00 switch..... Though I agree. I hate to "jury" rig it when I already know that there is no short cuts and i would give the same advice. I tell ya though, this thing pops an engine light if you open the door wrong. I'm gettting tired of paying to get this thing fixed.. What's really been depressing is the last time it did this and I took it to the dealer they reset the ecu and said " Uh yeah, I don't know but it's working now.... probably just a quirk in the ecu.. KERAPPY!!!!

Re: Vtec Issue Not Working Help!!!
It might be covered by WARRANTY and, therefore, the fix is FREE!! There might also be a TSB out related to this problem. Yea, you might have to pay $90 or so, but if you don't get it fixed correctly now it might cost you considerably more down the road. JMHO.
