A/C leaking onto passenger side carpet

I noticed the other day that when I made a left turn I could hear a "hissing" type sound that seemed to be coming from in the dash. I had my gym bag on the passenger side floor and when I picked it up it was soaking wet. I figured it must be the A/C leaking water so I put a piece of paper down on the floor and went for a short drive. Sure enough you could see the water almost pouring onto the floor with the A/C on but not when it was off. The "hissing" sound does not happen with the A/C off either. It is going into the dealer on Monday and I will post what they find out.

easy one....clogged or pinched drain line.

It may also be possible that a passenger's foot dislodged the drain tube. If that's the case, it's an easy fix - just push it back on.

Re: A/C leaking onto passenger side carpet

Well, I drove the Ridgeline to work and back home today without the A/C on and I still experienced water leaking down onto the carpet. I am still reasonably sure it is A/C related but I thought it was strange that it was still leaking while the A/C was turned off. I was tempted to see if I could figure out where the leak was coming from an fix it myself but I have decided to let the dealer handle it incase the carpet or floor mat needs to be replaced from the water. I will post what the dealer finds on Monday.

Re: A/C leaking onto passenger side carpet

Well it was just as Bigred1 suspected, a plugged drain line. The hissing sound was from water getting into the a/c. The cause of the plugged line was from oak leaves that had built up between the hood and the windshield. I don't park directly under a tree but close enough for the leaves to fall on to the truck with a little wind. I never realized how big of a gap there is between the hood and the windshield. Glad to have the truck back in working order with the temps here in SoCal at 90+ degrees.
