Re: THULE Ski Carrier Create Low Bass Wind Noise. HELP!!
Hi all (new to forum),
Also have a major problem with a 20" Thule Ski Rack mounted on a Honda Roof Rack. To make a long story short, I believe the problem stems from wind turbulence caused by the ski racks which in turn sets up an oscillation of the VERY thin roof skin. The noise is then transmitted through the roofing material into the cab. The noise is SUPER IRRITATING to the point that I no longer use the racks. If you push down with your hand on the roof skin at the fore and aft roof rack mounting points, you will notice the metal deform causing a drum like sound. I also have an Acura MDX with the same Thule rack, but no problem what-so-ever. The roof skin is thicker. As for a solution, I thought about gluing some kind of plastic strip to beef up the metal, but I backed off, hoping to find a better solution. |

Re: THULE Ski Carrier Create Low Bass Wind Noise. HELP!!
The sound comes from the rubber gaskets that keep the skis in place. the wind blows through them and creates the very anoying bass sound. Instead of locking them down all the way keep them in the upper locked position. this keeps a little space between the rubber gasket and the sound is not as bad. still there but not as bad.
