Update on U-Haul Hitch
When I finally got to see the actual Ridgeline hitch I was disappointed. The one They had shown me as an example was quite a bit different. To start with, they only drilled two bolt holes on each side flange and not three. Second the tube diameter and overall heft was not comparable to the Hidden hitch or Draw tite.
So in the end I ordered a Hidden Hitch from http://stores.ebay.com/LWM-Transportation-Enhancement for $138 Delivered. I placed the order at 11 PM on Monday and it arrived Friday morning. The only HITCH, pardon the pun, was that they sent a Draw Tite instead. Not a big deal since they are identical except the Draw Tite has a gloss black powder-coat and the Hidden Hitch has a flat black paint. The end product is much, much sturdier than the Valley made U-Haul Hitch shown here http://www.valleyindustries.com/ISHEETS/82142.pdf I'm thinking I'll have the local Sherman Williams or PPG auto outlet mix up a B-533M-4 batch so I can paint mine Steele Blue to match the truck. |
