Putnam Hitch

Has anyone installed a Putnam brand class III hitch sold through Pep Boys? They are only $115 delivered, but didn't want to get something others were having problems with.
Thanks

Re: Putnam Hitch

I'm thinking about trying a putman hitch. We have a distributer in Pa. that I have bought from in the past. Weaver distributing, fast service ,good prices, and free shipping on orders over $59.00. Still deciding on what wireing harness to buy. hmans3

Re: Putnam Hitch

Do they have a web site, or are they just local? Let me know if you get and install.
Thanks

Re: Putnam Hitch

I had my dealer talk me into installing a Putnam Hitch #25243 on my 06 Ridgeline RTL rather than the OEM Honda which he said isnt worth the money. Bull crap....I have had nothing but rattles and bangs since the install. The Putnam design does not bend up over the exhaust as the OEM one does and so everytime I hit a bump it bangs and clangs. Now fighting the dealer to get what I wanted in the first go around! See attached photos for example of OEM vs Putnam

Re: Putnam Hitch

I have the same issue. I am fighting with Putnam. About to get the lawyers in on this. (I have free Legal Services). If I were Putnam I would pay me off quick before I start a class action law suite.

I never looked at the OEM hitch on my '06 until I had it in the deal to transfer it to my '08. This is one more hefty trailer hitch, but not worth the $500 they want to charge you. I would not tow a horse trailer with it, but anything stable and loaded correctly with the proper tongue weight, I would tow without question up to the 5000# limit!!

Re: Putnam Hitch

I think this is going to be resolved today. The retailer who I purchased the hitch and labor from contacted the distributor and they are replacing the hitch today at no charge.

When I talked with Shawn (Eng) at Putnam they admitted that they have 100's of complaints. When he transferred me to customer service (Ryan) said I was stuck with the hitch.

I actually had the legal papers (I have a Free Lawyer from work) in my hand to file at the local court house. I called my local retailer one last time on the way to the court house. He got the distributor to take it back and will be making me whole.

I paid $300 with installation and wiring.
They just called to pick my truck up.
