Exactly the whole point of the exercise. If it can not be overheated under those conditions, and the other extreme testing that was done, it must be OK. Better for someone else to do it than for you to have problems in the field. Keep it in D and just drive. The mission logic will take care of the rest.

As already indicated, it will down-shift in D if the cruise is engaged (to maintain speed). If the cruise is not engaged, it will not automatically downshift unless s you touch the brakes. Other wise use the D3 button - it is quite convent and fool-proof way to select D3..

btw - the top speed of a twin turbo diesel Ford Excretion is 87mph - just for reference. It couldn't keep up.

Well I won't be going that fast , but you are right about this vehicle's ability to tow. Thing I noticed is how stable it is at speed. Never thought a FWD vehicle could feel so "planted". It never even worked up a sweat and the tranny logic is perfect..................I don't miss having D4 and D5 on the column.

Re: Ridgeline's can tow (photos)

Just an observation. I frequently tow my 3,500 lb popup trailer up a 7-mile, 6 % grade. I set the cruise at 55 MPH and it runs a steady 3,500 RPM. The last time up I watched the Throttle Position Sensor readout on the Scanguage. In the entire climb it never exceeded 42%. Impressed me.

Thumbs up Re: Ridgeline's can tow (photos)

I guess I pale in comparison to your superior intelligence.

Testing must be done. Diving high speeds on deserted roads with a support crew is part of the validation process. I have a lot of training that I have undergone to drive and evaluate vehicles at elevated speeds and g-forces.

I never encouraged you to drive outside your comfort zone. It is only an example of what the vehicle is capable of doing and the extremes that were undertaken during development.

I have actually never driven over 155mph as a matter of record. That was on a track. I have driven the Ridgeline at VMAX also. It is the most stable truck on the market today. It will pull more max lateral g's and better Slalom times than many so called sports cars. You don't have to evaluate the vehicle at these extremes to appreciate the depth and tenacity that went into the engineering of the vehicle.

sorry I didnt know you were an engineer, I apologize for jumping the gun.

I was picturing you flying down the freeway at 100mph weaving in and out of traffic with complete disregard for public safety all while towing a trailer............=X
