Honda Factory Trailer Hitch Wiring Question?? HELP

I have a 2007 Honda Ridgeline RTS. I bought a used 2006 Honda Ridgeline Trailer Hitch & Wiring (all Honda Factory Parts). My Question is the wiring under the dash. My control unit has only 1 relay in it (and 1 extra blank space, no wiring). My Installation manual sez there is 2 relays in the wiring harness. I just need the trailer lights to work. anyone have info on this???

Wish I could help you, I'll be having the same issue in a couple weeks. I Hope someone post some anwsers for us.

Sounds like you have the first generation wiring harness that did not support the trailer backup lights. They made a change about August 2005 with the trucks and the harness that added an additional relay.

You can use the later model harness on the older trucks; however, I have no idea if you can use the first-gen harness on a later model truck. It looks like it should hook up, but you will not have the backup light circuit active.

Thanks, So will my trailer lights work???, Is that relay for the backup trailer lights Only?? I have a 5 x 10 trailer, I just want the lights yo work.

I believe MBlount is correct in that the extra relay is only for the reverse light functionality - your trailer lights should work fine. Let us know after you try it.

Ok, I plugged everything in, Time to plug the trailer in. I will let you know what happens.
