Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

I am getting installation prices from dealers in the metro Atlanta area ranging from $250 to $375 labor to install the Honda hitch and wiring harness... From reading posts here this can't be more than a couple hour’s labor at shop rate I would think..

Any recent installation prices would be appreciated so I can use them to negotiate with my dealer...who just happens to be the one at $375!

Interestingly everyone I've called has quoted the same price, $495, for the hardware.

TIA

Get an aftermarket hitch and wiring from ebay and install it yourself in 20 mins.

Re: Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

I bought my OEM Honda hitch and wiring from this place on ebay:

I paid $420 shipped to my door and it took me about 1 1/2 hours to install the hitch and wiring....

Re: Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

I purchased my RL RTS with a hitch installed by the dealer one week ago. It was the Honda factory hitch with 4/7 wire plug harness, bar, ball, locking hitch pin and filler plug. It cost me $560 total before tax.

Re: Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

I will add my voice to the buy it online and do it yourself vote. Really all it takes is a small amount of lifting from the ground and attaching a few bolts for the hitch. 8 bolts into pre-tapped holes for my Hidden Hitch. The wiring is easier. It T-connects into your tail lights, which come out with two screws the tailgate is dropped. The connectors fit the Honda OEM connectors. The only down side is this only gives you a flat 4 pin connector versus the 4 and 7 pin from the Honda OEM harness.

All this for around $200 from http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2007_Honda_Ridgeline.htm

Of course you know your mechanical abilities better than anyone else, so do what makes you happy.

Re: Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

I am having a hitch installed locally at $235 installed. I'm doing the oem wiring myself. I don't have the strength to do the hitch easily, and DH is visually impaired so this seemed the best for me.

Re: Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

We have a place that does nothing but hitch and cab installes. The Honda Dealer is across the steet, they send all there cars over there to be done. I paid $289 and that included everything. All parts and labor, done in 1 hour.

Re: Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

$512.00 from our local Honda stealership, and about $50.00 more from where I actually purchased my RTX (but got a better deal on the truck).

I think $250-$350 is good for a complete install. I went with the RTX just to have the factory hitch. I'm also pro-dealership install if the price is right, as the warranty applies, and they're there to back it up.

Prices vary, check around. If you're ok with aftermarket, go for it. IMHO just have someone do the complete install if you're not up to the task.

I had the dealer install harness for $54.00 labor. I did the hitch myself. They matched the price of H & A for the harness & hitch.
The hitch is not hard to do. An extra pair of hands or floor jack makes it easier.

Re: Anyone have a recent price for a hitch install?

My dealer in Burnsville, MN installed mine for $99 last May, unbelievable deal. Funny part was they also had the highest price on the hitch. I ordered hitch online, they installed it, total cost was just shy of $500.
