Smile thanks! our DIY Honda hitch and harness install completed

Thank you all for sharing your experiences about installing hitches, in general, and Honda hitch and harness, specifically!

My husband did it all himself in a couple of hours, without any "assistance" from me. He jokingly said that if I "helped", it would double the time.

We installed the OEM harness for our 2007 RTL (pn ending in 102). We ordered both kits from Majestic Honda.

The only odd thing is that we never got that fuse box cover. The Oct 2006 install manual clearly states a "subfuse box upper cover" from the kit is supposed to replace the one already in the truck. I have read that this cover is not necessary? Just in case, if any ROC members have installed pn 102, can you please post a pic of the fuse diagram on the cover that came with the kit? The diagram on our original cover seems to match up correctly to the trailer fuses.

Anyway, thank you again and happy driving (or tinkering)!

Kuapao

Honda apparently realized that it didn't make sense to produce two different fuse box covers. At some point, probably starting with the 2007 model year, they started shipping the RL off the line with the fully labeled fuse box cover. Glad to hear the install went well. Don't foget to check the torque settings of the hitch bolts after your first tow.

I installed a Honda Hitch and wiring yesterday. I didn't get the replacement fuse box cover and the fuse box cover on my 07 RTL was not labeled for the fuses, it has "X's" labeled for the trailer fuse slots. Weird.

I had Majestic Honda send me the missing fuse box cover before I had learned that I may not need it. You can have my spare cover if you want, just pay for the actual shipping. PM me if you are interested.

I truly appreciate the offer, but I just held onto the paper that showed the fuse locations. Thanks anyway!

The Honda instructions are goofy! A lot of missing and misleading instructions.

I read in other threads that one must make sure to check the date on the instructions. I called Honda Customer Care just to check the publication/document number. They helped me to confirm that I had the latest and greatest.

Yes I did the same as the instructions seemed to be for an older vehicle. I did a post of my ordeal. As you have the RTL, I hope you had the controller already installed? Together we'll figure it out!!
