The Honda answer is no.

I've posted info on this subject in the past. There are people that use the Ridgeline as a toad.

You can use the Ridgeline as a toad. Keep in mind that it's a violation of the Honda warranty. Little problems could turn into big problems.

Re: Can We Tow The Ridgeline 4 Down?

Thnx csimo,

Haven't been to all the RV websites yet to see how they're doing this yet but Im guessing to thimk probly handled like the CRV & Acura.

Will spend more time searching them when time permits.

Please advise if anyone finds a scheme to use.

Thnx agn, Gben

Re: Can We Tow The Ridgeline 4 Down?

Disclaimer: I do not recommend using the Ridgeline as a toad. I offer the following for informational purposes only.

The engine and drivetrain of the Ridgeline is very similar to the 2005 Acura MDX. Below is what the 2005 MDX Owner's Manual said about this subject (it's important to note that the 2006 MDX driveline was a carryover from 2005 but the below information was not valid for 2006):

Towing Your Vehicle Behind a Motorhome

Your MDX can be towed behind a
motorhome at legal highway speeds
up to 65 mph (100 km/h). Do not
exceed 65 mph (100 km/h) or severe
transmission damage will occur. To
avoid damage to the 4WD system, it
must be towed with all four wheels
on the ground (flat towing).

When purchasing a tow bar, make
sure you select a reputable
manufacturer. Follow the
manufacturer’s attachment
instructions carefully.

Perform this procedure every day
immediately before you begin towing.
Otherwise, severe automatic
transmission damage will occur.

Check the transmission fluid level.

Start the engine.

Press on the brake pedal. Shift the
lever through all the positions (P,
R,N, D , D , D , 2, 1).

Shift to D , then to N. Let the
engine run for three minutes, then
turn it off.

Release the parking brake.

Leave the ignition switch in the
ACCESSORY (I) position so the
steering wheel does not lock.
Make sure the radio and any items
plugged into the accessory power
sockets are turned off so you do
not run down the battery.

Extended Towing
If you tow for more than 8 hours in one
day, you should repeat the above
procedure at least every 8 hours
(when you stop for fuel, etc.)

NOTICE
The steering system can be damaged if
the steering wheel is locked. Leave the
ignition switch in the ACCESSORY (I)
position, and make sure the steering
wheel turns f reely bef ore you begin
towing.

Re: Can We Tow The Ridgeline 4 Down?

Well,

Mr google intelligence brought me ridgeline toad as horny toad in several links & ridgeline baseplate in as many links for a ridgeline desk for laptop computers.

But BooOx, Demco, Remco & a few others not well versed makes no mention of a baseplate for a Honda Ridgeline. So seeing that towing the Ridgeline behind our Duramax diesel with a ten foot tow strap at 65mph may cause stress to form within the said strap!

So now we add $6295 for the little closed trailer to make sure it's where we are when we get there. Won't be no gas in the thing but we'll just get in slam the doors & enjoy.

Thnx csimo, it's a trip,

Gben

Re: Can We Tow The Ridgeline 4 Down?

Dingy towing is no longer recommended due to damage to the one-way clutch. The 2006-08 owners manual specifically advises against this. This type of failure is not covered under warranty.

Specially: "with all four wheels and the ground, it is best to tow the vehicle no further than 50 miles, and keep the speed below 35mph."

Wink Re: Can We Tow The Ridgeline 4 Down?

Thnx Kokiak

Let's see here now, can't sell CRV sense it will have tobe towed behind the Ridgeline in order that the ladies will have a way to Molly World when we get them there wherever that may be.

So, will save trailer cost 6295 but CRV then has to stay costing abt 7500+?

Still trying to sell 03 Subaru Forrester 5 sp, 51k mi @ 12-13k which would help buy a nice used Ridgeline@ abt 25k, maybe. Would hate to part with my good lady but she also just may have togo? The John Deere, NO. I simply will not part with it no matter what.

Thnx agn, Gben
