Tow Truck

Wish I had a camera. The Ridge as a tow truck.
Was visiting friends out of town for the weekend. We got a great snow storm. A foot or a little more. The side streets in town hadn't seen a plow even a day later. My buddy drives a 2006 F250. Crew cab and 8' box. It's as big as a bus. He paid $10G more than my Ridge. It's a real truck, he told me last summer...
Well he was stuck in the middle of his street. When I pulled up, he was shovelling around the wheels, trying to move from his icy ruts. I had a tow strap, and hooked on. Towed him the entire 4 blocks home, as he would keep getting stuck. After unhooking, I pulled over into a snowdrift about 2' high, and parked it there. (Yes, a little showboating at this point). He muttered something about having 200 lbs of concrete in his box, should've had traction, was getting better tires tomorrow, etc. Meanwhile, I don't think I even got a wheel to spin all weekend. It was invincible. On the drive home Monday morning, we counted 25 vehicles still in the ditch along a one hour stretch of highway. 6 of them semis. The Ridgeline is the ultimate snow and winter vehicle.

Re: Tow Truck

Yeah, I want to see a dash-cam as a factory option.

What your buddy should realize is that unless he sprung for the optional locking rear diff and limited slip front diff, he only pushes with 2 of his four contact patches. The RL can use all 4 contact patches and proportion the torque as needed. Ain't it sweet!

I would have made him tell you that the Ridgeline is a real truck and his so called real truck is not worthy before I towed him an INCH.

Re: Tow Truck

That's totally cool that the RL did so well in the snow as well as doubling as a tow truck. When you were towing your buddy, did you just leave the VSA on and let the RL do its thing, or did you turn it off and use the VTM lock? I wish we could get a decent snowfall so I could join in the fun. Better start working on my snow dance.

I'd share my snow dance but it involves nudity, alcohol, swearing at the sun and howling at the moon. It works great but the neighbors get upset during the lengthy performance and during the resultant blizzard. It would likely be a huge hit on youtube.com.

I used the VTM lock in first gear. Don't think I turned off the VSA. But I guess I should've. Don't recall any problems though.
