Re: "Super Bumper"
Quote:
The Super Bumper comes in black ( painted) or chrome. I got the black one. The depiction on their site with springs vs. rubber donuts is, the springs are "older models". They all are supposed to use rubber now. Mine has rubber. They also include rubber inside the square portion of the "hitch tube" that the hitch pin rests on , giving additional absorbtion. Yes, I would get another one but no one has hit it yet ? VTX |

Re: "Super Bumper"
I don't know about anyone else, but ever since someone hit and run me at a K Mart I've become paranoid. I already park so far away from where I"m going that I get all my cardio exercise just from walking to the store.
I'm interested in anything that'll keep some idiot with no sense of responsibility from damaging my car that I worked hard to buy an am fond of. If there's enough interest maybe we could get a group discount. Either way, I think I'm gonna get one.

Re: "Super Bumper"
trucku-
I, too have one of these SuperBumpers. The ball mount doesn't have to be installed. It just drops into an opening at the top of the SuperBumper and the locking pin secures it at the bottom of the SuperBumper. You can leave the ball mount in or take it out easily. I leave mine out when I'm not towing and use the Honda rubber "H" from the factory hitch to fill in the hole. rw

Re: "Super Bumper"
Sorry, I don't have any pics now, but will try to take some soon.
The horzontal centerline of the SuperBumper is exactly even with the horzontal centerline of the 2" hitch opening - it come straight out. My two reasons for purchasing were for protection and to raise the height of my hitch ball. I have been rear ended several times (three different vehicles) and always had my hitch ball in place. Each time they were not high speed, less than 5 mph, and I didn't receive any damage, however, the "perp" had a hole punched in his/her bumper each time. I just thought since the SuperBumper absorbs some shock, it might be a better option. My 6' wide x 10' long enclosed Wells Cargo trailer when empty was sagging at the hitch ball - I needed more height and this added about 1 1/2" to 1 3/4", which made everything level. I can take exact measurements if anyone likes. rw

Re: "Super Bumper"
UPDATE -
For those interested, I've been speaking to "Jeff" from this company several times ( via email) and I did mention some 'member interest' here. He said for those interested ; give him a call, let him know where you saw it and then you could talk price ? Please Understand - I have no affiliation what so ever with him or his Co. I'm just passing on info.... to help someone out . He seem like a good guy with a good product. VTX |

Re: "Super Bumper"
Little towing nuggets here.
It appears that this device would impede hitch "dropping". In other words the ball height cannot be raised or lowered to match many trailers properly. This is an important stability / clearance issue when towing. Secondly, extending the hitch ball point out farther from the rear of the vehicle causes greater force to be placed on the rear of the vehicle, effectively increasing the tongue weight. These things will not adversely effect most RL owners, but they are issues for those who tow significantly to consider. |
