Which Side To Put The Bike On?

When I get my Kayak, I'm going to have to put the Husky on one side of the bed or the other. Now, I originally thought it would be better on the right, so my 200# a** in the driver's seat would somewhat offset the 320# of the bike on the right. However, it seems that the only thing holding the tailgate up when the weight of the Husky's rear wheel is on it is the cable on the left side.

Would it be better from a stress/support standpoint to put the Husky on the left? Or would it not matter either way?

What say all of you that carry dirt bikes in the back?

Cheers,
Tom

Re: Which Side To Put The Bike On?

It doesn't matter. The tailgate is strong enough even with one cable to take the weight of the ENTIRE bike while driving around as long as you don't go 4 wheeling with it sitting back there.

Don't be fooled. Honda knew that people would have to use the tailgate as a useable part of the bed when they built the truck due to the lack of length we have back there. Your truck has the strongest tailgate in the industry.

Haven't gotten them both loaded yet, but here's a pic with the bike in the back and the "J" cradles. There's actually a lot more room than what it looks like...

Cheers,
Tom
