Rear end sag

Hi all,
I currently tow a 4200lb. boat with a 2007 Honda Pilot and get a lot of sag on the rear end when I hook it up. How is the Ridgeline as far as dealing with tongue weight?

Re: Rear end sag

If you keep the tongue weight below six hundred pounds, you should see about a two inch or so drop.

Re: Rear end sag

What is the tongue weight of the loaded trailer?

If you don't have a tongue weight scale you can make one with a bathroom scale, some boards and a fulcrum point. Be sure that % weight on the scale will correspond to the mid range of the scale, for accuracy.

Re: Rear end sag

The tongue weight is about 450 lbs. and sags about 3.5 inches on my Pilot. I'm hoping the Ridgeline will be a better tow vehicle.

As I stated in post# 2, you should expect about a two inch lowering of the rear bumper with a tongue weight of five to six hundred pounds.

Yup, I also have 400# on the ball but carry a Honda generator in the trunk so it sags a bit more over 1 1/2".
