Re: in bed racks

Well, I usually just give my wife a hand, while she climbs up into the truck bed. You'll need to supply your own female, though!

Not sure what kind of racks you are inquiring about, but try a search - there are numerous threads about several kinds of racks... However, you'll need to head over to a different forum for those kinds of racks!

Re: in bed racks

I use a Thule Bedrider I bought on here. I used 2x4's on either side of the front lower tie-downs in the bed to mount it/spread it and mounted my bikes to it. I suppose you consider that one of the "ugly bar things" though, so this probably doesn't help.

There's always the roof-rack mount but if you want it in bed you are going to have to build your own or get an "ugly bar thing" probably.

Re: in bed racks

Did you get any have any good info on in bed bike fork mounts?
I'd like to mount two against the front wall of the bed-against the cab but not sure how to securely bolt them in place. Any info?
Photos of your setup would be a big help if you could.
How did you secure the 2x4s to the wall of the bed?
Thanks for any help.

Re: in bed racks

It looks like this:

Thule Bike Rider

Is the best looking solution I've seen. I wish I'd seen that post before I bought my bike rider rack, but I didn't. Looks pretty easy to make, good luck!

Re: in bed racks

I went with the bed rail for the Toyota Tacoma. Toyota sells some fork mounts that attach to the bed rails. The setup for 3 bikes cost me about $225. The setup for only 2 bikes would have cost me about $165. This system allows me the ability to slide the mounts back-and-forth across the rail. I sometimes need to position the mounts at different spots across the rail depending on which bikes I transport.

I have a size Small Giant hardtail bike, and I can close the tailgate if I deflate the rear tire. I can also fully open the trunk with bikes clamped in.

Try a search under "Tacoma bike mount" and you'll see my original post which includes pics and part numbers.
