Honda tire jack and RVs?

I am not sure what category to place this thread. But I just came to realize that my 02 Flagstaff 26 ft tt, 3670 DRY weight, double axle, does not have a jack. In fact, the owners manual does not even mention any thing about changing tires.

So this makes me wonder: am I expected to use my Honda RL jack on the trailer if needed? Would it be adequate for this task? ( The loaded trailer and the RL actually would weigh about the same).

I'm not even sure where I would place the jack, I suppose under the trailer axle.

Do travel trailers normally come with a jack, or do they just expect you to use your trucks jack? Or do most folks purchase a special jack just for the trailer?

Re: Honda tire jack and RVs?

Personally, I wouldn't even use the stock RL jack on my RL!

I bought an electric 2ton jack. Lots of info on them, just do a search for 2 ton jack or electric jack - you'll get some great info!
PS... I have never changed a trailer tire...

The typical RV makes Ikea furniture look strong and sturdy.

In addition many RV tires are not balanced. I had to take off my Starcrap tires and get them balanced at a local tire shop.

Re: Honda tire jack and RVs?

I have a device called "Trailer-Aid" that is a type of ramp for tandem axle trailers whereby the good tire lifts the flat tire off the ground. I hope I never have to use it, but it's in the trailer just in case....

see: www.traileraid.com

My first TT didn't even come with a spare, much less a jack.....

The only suitable place to put the stock Ridgeline jack is in the garbage. IMHO it's dangerous and it's junk.

The Jacked Up Truth..... (Lots of BIG pics)

All -

For those who don't like the pricetag on the electric jacks, I found a 19" extension hydraulic bottle jack for ~$30 at Advance. That and an 18" piece of 2x12 are my replacement for the OEM crap.
