Re: Trailer Hitch Wiring

I have felt your pain. Hang in there. You'll get it.

Re: Trailer Hitch Wiring

I ended up using an exacto knife to score the tape and a long needle nose plier to pull it down. It can be done! Just not very easily. Did you do the end in the cab yet. There are two harness ends. One on either side of the steering column. You want the one on the passenger side. Used the exacto knife, needle nose technique there. Just don't get overly enthusiastic with the knife (of course).

Re: Trailer Hitch Wiring

I went cheap on my previous Honda and had all kinds of problems with the electrical system. Never again. Honda pulled the harness replaced the blown fuses and made no threat of voided warranty. However, as I understand it, the warranty can be voided only if the part/mod directly contributed to the failure (which did apply in my case but was overlooked). That can be hard to prove im many cases.

Yeah - done the cab - contorted myself like a pretzel to get under the steering column. I thought that would be the difficult piece

Just remember that the burden of proof is in your hands not the dealers. They can say you added an aftermarket modification that they believe caused the problem and that they won't support you. Your only recourse then is to go to court. Then you have to provide evidence that your modification was not the root cause. The reality is usually a lot lighter than this, most will buckle under even the thought of going to court because the cost of repair is usually a lot cheaper than fighting it.

I am not a happy bunny!
All is now right with the world Got the harness loose and hooked 'er all up. I used a couple of 2" u-bolts to fix the oem harness bracket to the Hidden Hitch. The socket is a bit low for my liking so I'll just have to be careful when reversing or going over the rough stuff. I'd post a picture but the missus has my camera and is away for the week.

#1 Tip - DO NOT install the hitch before you free up the vehicle harness as you'll end up removing it again to get at the wiring.

You might want to check with ladyridge about tips on not damaging your hitch socket.
