Re: Brake control wiring question
Thats what i figured but being a new truck i am most likely reading into it more than is needed and i really did not want to snake wires through my firewall unless absolutely needed.
If it was a Ford superduty pulling a 12000# trailer i would need a 30A fuse and a 10Ga wire but a single and dual axle trailers would never draw even close to 30A (unless it shorted). |

Re: Brake control wiring question
I see no problem using the factory wiring setup. Most brake controller maufacturers nowdays, with Tekonsha being one of the most popular, have pigtails available to plug into the factory wiring on some makes of vehicles. No Honda ones yet.

Re: Brake control wiring question
The wiring harness part #TE3070 you mention looks like it has a male fitting on the "honda" end. The pigtail that came with the OEM hitch and harness that I was planning to use to connect the under dash wires to the brake controller has a female fitting (with the other end being bare wires to splice to the controller). Does the TE3070 plug into the Prodigy on one end and the under dash OEM wiring on the other end? If so I need nothing else to connect the Prodigy to the dealer installed wiring harness?

Re: Brake control wiring question
Yes it does. It is made for the Ridgeline and is Plug & Play. Btw, I mounted the controller in the "Not An Ashtray" opening, two screws into center console which will be covered up by replacing the "Not An Ashtray" when I trade in the truck. The cable is long enough to reach without any problems.

The cable will fit through the rectangular opening on the left side of the "Not An Ashtray" opening and slide through the opening behind the lower dash panel and run across behind the dash. Nothing visible except the cable end that plugs into the controller and the controller holder.

Re: Brake control wiring question
Having fitted my hitch some weeks ago, I finally got around to fitting my Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller this weekend. The controller came with its own pigtail plug connector, and I simply spliced it to the Honda-supplied pigtail. I mounted the controller in its (supplied) holster on the plastic lower dash panel.
The Prodigy's manual says that it can be installed from 0-70 degrees from horizontal to vertical, and it's at about 55 degrees in the holster. I had to cut a fair bit of length off the Tekonsha pigtail. Finally, there was another post (look for "brake controller") that helped me locate the Honda factory plug; I would have been looking for ages without the ROC's help! ![]() |
