Ridgeline as a toad (towed vehicle)

I need a vehicle that can tow and be towed. Has anyone towed their Ridgeline (such as behind an RV), and if so, how did you do it. I would like to be able to tow four-down using a tow bar. Can this be done? Thanks...

Honda recommends that Ridgelines be carried and not towed.

Towing can damage the 4WD system. The RL should be carried on a flat bed only.

On the flip side, the Chevy Tracker/Suzuki Vitara can be towed if 4WD, not 2WD. They are RWD, so that must play a major part in that.

Re: Ridgeline as a toad (towed vehicle)

The Ridgeline shares most of its driveline with the Acura MDX (same engine, transmission, VTM-4, etc.) Up until the 2006 model year Acura had a procedure for using a MDX as a toad. They apparently changed their story for 2006.

What's the difference between a 2005 (approved for toad) and a 2006 MDX? Very little or nothing that I know of.

Most have used the Roadmaster plate and a Brake Buddy. I don't know if Roadmaster has a Ridgeline plate or not. The biggest problem they run into with the MDX is the battery going dead.

I'm not recommending that you use a Ridgeline as a toad. Just saying that some have done it with a very similar vehicle.

I guess that I can carry about 2,000,000 "toads" inside my Ridgeline. I guess it is a good "toad" vehicle.

According to Motorhome Magazine, the only 2006 Honda approved for towing is the CR-V. I'd be interested in finding out if the Ridgeline can be modified and used as a toad. Would a dealer be able to provide this information? Can they be trusted to provide correct information? Thanks...

With something as critical as this, I wouldn't trust a dealership to answer this question. I'd trust a camping source more.

"No problem, sir. You won't have any trouble towing this 8000 lb trailer I'm trying to sell you with your Ridgeline - there's always a margin built into those tow ratings"

Yea, I trust camping sources... (or perhaps that's not what you meant by camping sources?)
