It's a pretty decent plow for light duty plowing. I have the 7 ft Snow Bear. It uses an electric winch to raise and lower the blade, but a manual angle. I have a big driveway and live out, so drifts are common. I don't know if it would damage the Ridgeline to use the Snow Bear. It uses a special mount, not a hitch.

Re: Front Mount Hitch

[quote=ChrisM;291656]Here's mine

I need more info on the Curt hitch before I try it for anything heavier than a spare tire. (and I'm not hanging a spare tire mount on the front of my truck) Plain and simple. If it won't work with my brush guard I won't get one at all.

What is the straigt line pulling capacity of this hitch? Did anyone see this anywhere?

QUOTE]

Curt did not give me permission to post the installation instructions that include the capacities. However, following is what they state regarding capacities:

1. Gross load capacity when used as a weight carrying hitch - 3,500 lbs trailer weight & 350 lbs tongue weight.
2. Gross load capacity when used as straight line pull - 9,000 lbs max line pull.
3. For max line pull, winch cable must not exceed:
a. 15 degree angle up or down from horizontal.
b. 45 degree angle left or right from straight ahead.

There you have it. If you want a copy of the installation instructions, contact Curt directly.

My role in this item was that I contacted Curt last year and inquired if they planned to make a front mount hitch for the RL and they said it was coming and then sent me pics when it was ready.

BTW, I'm not "for" or "against" a front mount hitch on the RL but think it could be useful from time to time. I've got an "Extend-A-Truck" load carrier that I've used from time to time for long loads. With a front mount hitch and a second "Extend-A-Truck" used along with the roof racks would allow me to carry the occasional really long items. Still, not sure if I want one.

Anyway, If you've got a need for a front mount hitch for the RL, now there's one available....

Re: Front Mount Hitch

Heres my questions about this......

Will it still work if you have a gtech brush guard?

I think a front mount hitch is a great idea. It would come in handy for many things. But i seriously want to know if you can still mount one of these with a brush guard.

What brand of hitch do you have on your RL?

The one just released by Curt Manufacturing mounts below the lower facia. Yours looks to be in the same location as the front licence plate mount which is a bit higher.

Looks good...
