Front Mount Hitch

Has anyone done a front mounted hitch ? I've seen them on other vehicles but not on a Ridgeline. Want to carry a tray type carrier for coolers, fishing gear, etc when the rear hitch is used for towing.

I contacted Curt Manufacturing this morning and was told that a front mount hitch for the RL is planned for the near future.

This could open up a lot of cargo carrying options......

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, we may be able to finally put on a front mount light duty snow plow.

I wouldn't think a center mounted reciever would be able to handle the torque load of a snow plow, however light.

I've thought about trying to create a front hitch myself. The only way that I could see this even happening would be to totally skip the front subframe and mount it to the main part of frame directly. The biggest problem with this is that you would loose a ton of ground clearance and you would give up a ton of mechanical advantage by trying to mount it that far back. I'm curious to see what they come up with and what rating they give it.

front mount receiver hitch would also allow the use of a multi-mount winch(installs front or rear and could store in teh trunk)

I received an e-mail from Curt Manufacturing this morning advising that have just released their front hitch for the Ridgeline. I've attached what they sent me. The hitch is Curt #33328 and also fits the Pilot. Curt advised that you will need to contact them direct for mounting instructions for the RL. They shared a copy with me but declined permission for me to post them on our site as they could be updated. I did receive permission to post the pics, however.....

Maybe this is the answer some of us have been looking for. Let me know what you think.

I saw it for $144.95 on E-Trailer.com a few min ago. It will vary by dealer....

It also sounds like this is the answer for those who have been trying to get a front mounted winch for the RL. Now they can get a hitch mounted winch and put it on the front or back.
